NOTE: We will be closed July 8 through July 15, and July 23 to August 16. During these periods, please order from our web site. Orders placed while we are gone will be filled beginning the day after our return.
NEW POLICY. WIth ever increasing UPS rates, we are forced to discontinue our free shipping policy for orders amounting to $150 or more where UPS is the requested shipper. We will continue the $150.00 policy for orders shipped USPS. We apologize for any inconvenience. Note: This applies to mail, phone, web site and fax orders.
For several reasons, we are doing a lot of traveling this year and we ask you to bear with us. Please check this page on occasion to see when we will be gone. We'll be attending the Santa Fe Railway Historical & Modelling Society convention in Riverside, Calif., July 8-13, and we're back home only a week before traveling to South America for three weeks. Once we return from South America August 16, we should be here the rest of the year.
Welcome
to our web site. Hopefully it will enable you to know
us better and to have more visual interaction with our
company. The name of the game is customer satisfaction
and we hope with this site we are taking a step in bettering
that aspect of our business. We really want to be your
source for quality books, DVDs, atlases, and calendars.
We now have a secure dedicated server hosting our web site. Our system was starting to slow down in November 2007 and some customers were reporting problems. Our server people were able to speed things up for the holiday season, but we were advised that we should switch to a secure dedicated server. Though much more expensive, we now have a system that is unaffected by the actions of others. We had a few teething problems, but the new server went on line Monday, December 17. Hope you will or have noticed the difference. We plan other changes in 2008 to make the site even better for our customers.
Effective 5-12-07, we raised our UPS shipping charges for retail orders to $10 for the first item and $1.00 for each additional item. UPS is constantly increasing their rates by adding fuel surcharges, residence surcharges, and "high cost delivery zip" surcharges to the point that we can no longer afford to ship retail orders at our old rates. The other day we shipped a single book in a 2-pound package to Texas for $9.16.
The postal rate changes that went into effect on May 14, 2007, will change our international rates. The USPS has done away with surface shipping and now everything will go by air. There are now two international classes: First Class International (for packages less than 4 pounds) and Priority Mail International (for package over 4 pounds). There will not be any change on small packages, but packages weighing over 4 pounds will see a significant increase. Sorry about this.
Priority mail rates dramatically increased with the May 14, 2007, rate change. As a result, we will no longer ship our calendars priority mail. They will now go Media Mail.
Our current catalog
now being shipped with all orders is #146 in effect from 3-26-08 through 9-30-08.
The CATALOG section of our web site is not current. As soon as we work out some problems, we will once again post our current catalog on the site.
